TAILSHIFT is a nine-sector growth-trail survival campaign divided into three mechanically distinct acts. Genesis Grid introduces split, relink and portal routing; Prism Foundry adds alternating phase walls and echo-hunting predators; Null Archive combines spatial folds, advanced echo effects and adaptive guardian pressure. Every third sector is a boss protocol whose shield must be charged with nodes and broken by a successful relink. Optional directives award mastery, clean high-chain relinks can reveal one hidden Signal Shard per act, and two between-act protocol choices reshape the current run through explicit trade-offs rather than permanent raw power. Ranked Circuit uses four integrity points with deterministic checkpoint rollback and one integrity repair after each guardian. Practice has unlimited retries. Completing Ranked Circuit unlocks the harder local Overclock Circuit, which remains unranked.

Choose Ranked Circuit or Practice Loop, then confirm ENTER CIRCUIT and the explicit sector start gate. Overclock Circuit remains locked until Ranked Circuit has been completed. Route with WASD or the arrow keys; two valid turns can be buffered. Press Space to split the rear trail when it is long enough and shift charge is available, then touch either glowing echo endpoint to reconnect. Act I memory echoes are neutral, Act II prism echoes briefly disable phase walls on relink, and Act III null echoes stun Echo Hunters. Portals preserve movement direction. Phase walls show a warning state before becoming solid, hunters telegraph their next step, and moving pulses lock their destination for a complete decision tick. Guardian sectors require two collected nodes to open the core, followed by a relink to deal damage. Complete the displayed directive for mastery and use clean high-chain relinks in sectors 2, 5 and 8 to reveal hidden Signal Shards. After guardians 1 and 2, choose one tactical sidegrade. Press P or Escape to pause, M to mute and Enter to confirm gates. Losing focus, hiding the page or rotating between portrait and landscape triggers a safety pause that requires explicit resume. Touch uses the on-screen direction pad and SHIFT button; those controls also support keyboard or switch activation when focused. End screens offer MODE SELECT or RETRY SAME MODE. Ranked scores submit only at run end through the ArcadeReboot parent bridge; Practice and Overclock are unranked.
